Exploring Blocks to Self-Healing

What if your only purpose for Being on this Earth is to Heal yourself?

What if at the end of this life you were to find out that the only thing you did wrong was put yourself last and ignore your needs to selflessly "help" others.

What if the truth is that putting others first and attempting to live selflessly is exactly where you are getting stuck......?

What if the truth is that finding peace within yourself is the only way you can truly be helpful to others, without expecting or needing anything in return?

Are you willing to consider these things?

Our healing journey begins when we are willing to begin to question the way we have been showing up in the world and how the world around us is responding to the way we are showing up.

So many of us have been taught that selflessness is holy and virtuous. We were told that good people are selfless, they give more than they have for the sake of others. At the same time we were taught that doing anything for ourselves that displeases others is selfish and unholy.

This understanding leaves us constantly drained and indebted in an effort to be a "good' person. It tells us that it's bad to meet our own needs and good to meet others' needs. Which also says we must allow others to meet our needs......but then what happens when they don't.......

I think it's quite clear that this not only doesn't work, it really doesn't make sense and this is just one of many reasons we so often find ourselves exhausted. We live depleted and exchange depleted energy endlessly. This way of living keeps us stuck in an endless cycle of depletion and exhaustion that leaves us feeling inadequate and helpless.

So here is the question.....what do we do about it? The simplest answer is heal, by learning what is keeping us stuck and unfulfilled. This begins with awareness of our energy and how we are exchanging it.

There is no clear cut definition of what it means to heal and so there is no step by step manual that is going to get us all there. And really that is kind of the point. We are all on an individual journey of self discovery.

I mean think about it, if the truth is we each came to Earth to Heal ourselves doesn't it make sense that it would be an individual life long challenge?

The healing is the constant discovering of deeper truths about ourselves and our experiences that challenge us to change our prospective and expand our awareness.

A big part of the process is accepting that being here to heal is challenging and that is uncomfortable and avoiding that discomfort is one of our greatest barriers to our healing.

The above example of exchanging depleted energy is just one of millions of things that we do as humans to distract ourselves from the discomfort of our own healing.

It seems insane that we would work so hard to avoid doing the very thing that we came to do.....

But it seems it is human nature to do so, when we are functioning at a low level of self awareness.

The more self aware we are willing to become the more we heal. However, the more self aware we become the more we notice the things that are making us uncomfortable and the more we have to be willing to take responsibility for the changes that will need to be made in order to create a better feeling.

The catch 22 is that change is uncomfortable and unfamiliar and most people choose familiarity over uncertainty when faced with this choice. They would rather know how they are going to be uncomfortable because they feel equip to handle it, rather than risk an unfamiliar level of discomfort that they can't manage.

In just a few short paragraphs we have looked at multiple reasons healing is challenging and we haven't even scratched the surface. Yet, it is our purpose and if we fail to honor it we will never find the peace we seek so relentlessly.

So, the question becomes what am I willing to do to Heal?

And the ever expanding answer to that question will guide each of us on our life long journey of self healing and discovery. Through this journey we will learn to live in the present moment, to honor ourselves and our experience for what it is, without needing to attach to it or blame others or circumstances.

We will learn to accept ourselves and our experience in a way that creates peace within us, no matter what the experience is. We will do this by learning that we can control our responses and it is from this place of control we discover our true power.

We learn to accept that There is no end point, no moment of arrival, simply times of rewards and times of challenge that are presented based on what we are choosing to learn about ourselves at any given moment.

Some experiences will teach us what we like and others what we don't. While some will ask us to move and others will ask us to be patience. It is by being present in each moment and learning to recognize our reactions and responses that we will notice what to do.

Through self awareness and trusting ourselves to make better and better choices we find the ability to respond in the way that results in the outcome we desire.

It's simple, yet so complex and all we can do is live moment to moment practicing the things that move us in the direction we choose, while being willing to detach and move away from the things that keep us stuck. Life is about growth and movement and when we fail to move we begin to stagnate, which leads to suffering, disease and ultimately death.

Do you see how it can make sense that our purpose is to heal? The very inability to do so leads to death...

All of this can become so overwhelming and frustrating and confusing and that is what makes it a life long challenge. So, take a deep breath, remember that it feels much more serious than it is and reach for the next thing that will keep you moving forward.

Namaste,

Crystal
