Creating A New Normal

As we move back out into the world I know that we are excited to get ”back” to normal.
As I write I am sending Love and Peace to help us accept that it’s not the return to normal that we are really seeking, but a sense of certainty and connection.
It's a human desire to know what to expect from day to day and to feel connected to those around us.
My hope is that through this distancing experience we are now ready to create certainty for ourselves in a purposeful and more focused way, rather than seeking it through other means such as government, employment, unhealthy relationships or distraction.
My hope is that we will soon discover and accept that the normal we left in March, is not at all what we want to return to.
My hope is that this time and experience has changed us all in a way that makes going back to what was considered normal, impossible.
My hope is that we are ready now to create a new normal that promotes personal well-being and the acceptance of the possibility for peace and compassion.
During this transition, I feel we are each being called to take part in creating for ourselves and those around us this new normal.
A normal that allows everyone to feel honored, because we are each honoring ourselves.
A normal that gives us the space to express ourselves and our potential fully and completely and allows others to do the same.
A normal that embraces the beauty of personal freedom and the personal responsibility that flows naturally with it.
A normal that is compassionate and empowering.
A normal that pushes us to reach our potential through fellowship and love.
A normal that is open to change and expansion, free from the fear that causes us to want to control that which we cannot.
While many things will still look the same, it is our calling to slow down and look through clear, fresh eyes.
To become curious about our behaviors and interactions.
To become curious about our values and how we are or aren’t honoring them.
To become curious about how we are investing our energy and to decide if we want to continue to invest in things that aren’t serving our/the overall good.
I encourage you to spend your energy asking questions like:
-Do I choose to spend my money at businesses that align with my values?
*Remember that your money was earned by investing your energy, so where you spend your money is an energy investment. It’s like saying I work to support this!!
-Am I investing in foods and materials that support my health and the overall well-being of our planet?
-Do I value the work that I am doing? Does it honor who I am and invest in my overall well-being (not just financial)?
-Am I interacting with people who value me and that I value?
-Am I wasting energy on judging or complaining, rather than deciding what action would truly serve me and others?
-Am I setting a good example of my own values?
By focusing on how we spend our energy and making conscious choices that align with our values and well-being, we create a different experience for ourselves that empowers us.
When we choose to deplete our energy by worrying and complaining, we feel helpless and victimized and this causes us to react in a way that creates suffering for us and those around us.
We are all feeling uncertain and uncomfortable, by being aware of how we are feeling and how those feelings are guiding our judgments and behaviors we can begin to create a new normal for ourselves.
A normal that sets an example of taking personal responsibility that will not only change our experience for the better, but that can create a ripple effect that empowers everyone’s experience.
Remember to be gentle with yourself. Fear, judgement and uncertainty will be uncomfortable, but it is temporary. It’s okay, listen to what the discomfort has come to tell you and decide from a conscious space how to react.
If all else fails, sit down and just breathe until you start to feel a little better!!
Until next time, many blessings of peace and compassion.
Namaste,
Crystal*
